Afgelopen dinsdag had ik mijn examen vlucht samen met Graham in Brussel. De eerste helft was Graham (Pilot Flying) betekent dat hij rechts zit en hij het vliegtuig bestuurd (Is niet altijd zo dat je rechts moet vliegen, maar daar heeft onze school voor gekozen. Omdat we dan alvast wennen om rechts te vliegen), ik zit dan links en doe alle systemen bedienen en hem helpen. We maakten een vlucht van Brussel naar Schiphol. In de "Take Off" ging er een systeem stuk, dus moesten we de take off afbreken. Vervolgens opnieuw vertrekken, onderweg kleine storingen die we moesten oplossen. Aangekomen bij Schiphol bleek het weer te slecht te zijn en zagen we de landingsbaan niet, dus moesten we uitwijken naar Rotterdam. Tijdens het uitwijken vloog er een motor in de brand, en we hebben het vliegtuig netjes op 1 motor op Rotterdam geland.
De tweede helft waren de rollen omgedraaid, toen was ik Pilot flying. We maakten een vlucht van Schiphol naar Brussel. Net na de "Take Off" kregen we een "Generator Failure" dat betekent dat er een deel van de elektriciteit uitvalt. Tijdens het uitklimmen hebben we dat netjes opgelost door de (APU) op te starten, (Dat is een kleine hulpmotor in de staart, deze wordt gebruikt om de motoren te starten en ook om elektriciteit te leveren). Verder verliep de vlucht prima, tot we opgelijnd waren voor de landingsbaan in Brussel. Tijdens de benadering naar de landingsbaan viel de ILS (Instrument Landings Systeem) van die baan uit. (Dat is een systeem wat op de grond staat). Toen moesten we dus een doorstart maken, en na overleg met de verkeersleiding konden we een benadering maken op een andere baan. Toen we de voorbereidingen troffen voor de nieuwe landing vloog er een motor in de brand. Dit koste dus iets meer tijd, omdat we de motor ook weer hellemaal moesten afzetten. Vervolgens zijn we netjes op 1 motor geland. Als laatst was er nog iets tijd over en toen zouden we nog een kort lokaal vluchtje maken bij Brussel. We hadden alles voorbereid en stonden klaar op de startbaan. Onze berekening was dat de beslissingssnelheid om de "Take Off" af te breken lag bij 140 knopen (250km/hr). Alles leek goed te gaan, maar bij ongeveer 120 knopen liep de linker motor in 1 keer hellemaal vast. Dat betekent dat de motor in 1 keer stil staat, en dat de voorstuwing aan de linkerkant wordt vervangen door een enorme weerstand, en aan de rechter kant blijf je wel voortstuwing houden. Met als gevolg dat het vliegtuig de neiging heeft om linksaf te willen. En dat moet je dan dus opvangen door met je voeten zeer snel naar rechts te sturen, en omdat we onder de 140knopen zaten ook meteen het gas dicht en vol op de remmen. Je kan je wel voorstellen dat het bij ruim 200km/hr er wel even heftig aan toe gaat dan. Maar ik heb hem perfect op de baan weten te houden, en netjes tot stilstand gekregen. Overigens is dit het ergste wat er ooit met een motor kan gebeuren, en komt dit in werkelijkheid bijna nooit voor. Maar dat is het leuke van een Simulator, je kan alle noodsituaties die er bestaan perfect oefenen. Na afloop kregen we te horen dat de taakverdeling de samenwerking en de communicatie heel erg goed waren verlopen. En we hebben dus ook een zeer positieve beoordeling gekregen voor deze vluchten. Met andere woorden we zijn geslaagd. En aangezien dit het laatste onderdeel was betekent dat dus ook dat ik nu geheel klaar ben met de opleiding. Dus nu zoeken naar een baan. Gister heb ik mijn logboek afgehandeld en mijn brevet aanvraag geregeld, dus als het goed is heb ik over 3 weken mijn brevet en kan ik een sportvliegtuigje huren in Nederland.
