week 5 lisbon, faro and beja

A little bit of everything this week!
3 weeks ago I met a girl from Rio de Janeiro in Evora. She was on a 3 weeks holiday travelling trough Portugal and Spain. We kept in touch via email and when she was in Lisbon again, waiting for her return flight back to Rio, I went to visit her. It was a really nice day!

On wednesday I had a flight together with Fabian. He flew from Evora to Faro for 2 approaches and continued to Portimao where we changed seats. I did only one ILS approach with limited panel at Faro.

On Thursday I went to Beja and did a high speed (150 kias) straight in ILS approach followed by two NDB approaches. New was the fact that I had to use the flight director for the entire duration of the flight.

On friday we had arranged a large party for the new NLS 0405 class.

Missed approach at Faro (LPFR)

VFA or Faro VOR is a doppler type VOR. For the aircraft equipment it doesn't matter if the station is conventional (recognisable by a large cone on top of the station) or doppler.

After flown 1000 AGL over the coastline to Portimao we proceeded for a straight in approach. The runway is only 900 meter and has a hill just in front of it, that's why we have the displaced threshold.

Preparing the return trip to back to Evora via Faro.

I'm also participating in a movie which is being made by the university of Wales....but more about that next week ;-)

That's all for now. Take care,
Bas
