week 6 carnival

Monday and Tuesday the school was closed due to carnival. We went out on Monday evening to get a taste of Portuguese carnival. On Wednesday I had a 2:30 hour flight to Faro again, were I did 2 ILS approaches and 1 NDB. Last Thursday I was not scheduled to fly. On Friday I was copilot for Reyndert and Leon and had one sim session myself. On all sessions we had a lot of emergencies.

I have now 6 hours of night flying to do, 8 hours of sim and 3:40 left for exam training before I can do my IF check. Next week I will do a lot of simulator and will probably go night flying...finally!

This week the construction of the long awaited NDB finally finished. Reyndert and I went to the construction site to take some pictures and speak with the guys building it. It's identification will be EVR and it's frequency 425 kHz. At the moment it's morse code is TST _ ... _ (test) which is the identification until the beacon is calibrated. The constructor who also installed both ILS systems at Lisbon airport, said that all new working navaids have this identification until they become operational.

Myself near the NDB.

Oh yes...I almost to forget tell you about the muuuuvie (that's how the English call it) I was participating in. Our Student councilor asked me if I liked to play her husband. We were only needed in a few scene's and a photo shooting. Although we had to wait a lot between the takes it was really nice!

Later,
Bas
