Sunday, February 27, 2005week 8 night flying
Finally...I went night flying together with Robert Bos and two other Portuguese students at Seville for two days. Our Instructor was Angel Martin. The new hotel in the centre of Seville was pretty nice. The days where long but.....night flying is great!
![]() Cruise at F080 just above the clouds during sunset gave spectacular views. ![]() We had a pretty strong tailwind. Angel looked up in the GPS what the highest recorded groundspeed was for our aircraft. It seemed to be 203 knots. Because we were already doing around 180 knots during cruise we decided to set a new record during cruise descent...218 knots! ![]() Seville at night. ![]() Robert could also do a day trip. I couldn't because I simply didn't have the hours left to do it. Finals at Granada runway 09. Mountains with snow on the tops. The highest MSA (Minimum Sector Altitude) is 13,400 ft for Granada. ![]() Finals at Seville runway 27...a few minutes before sunset. ![]() Flaring is more difficult because of lack of reference and illusions that can occur. But we were briefed about that before we left Evora and it's also a part of Human Performance and Limitations during the ground coarse at beek. ![]() The return trip back to Evora...everyone is waiting it's turn. I did 3:50 and made 6 landings during those 2 days. This week I will go for one night to make the last 2:10 to finish. See you next week, Bas
